Atomic Habits by James Clear

"Achieving a goal only changes your life for the moment. That's the counterintuitive thing about improvement. We think we need to change our results, but the results are not the problem. What we really need to change are the systems that cause those results" (25).

In quarantine life, I've been trying to find ways to keep myself motivated and keep up those habits that I've recently started. I couldn't have read Atomic Habits at a better time. Clear begins his story by describing the head injury he suffered on his High School baseball team. As he recovered and eventually matriculated to college, he began to find ways to improve his lifestyle by one percent: by peppering his day with beneficial habits. He quickly became the star of his baseball team while earning straight A's during his four years. In his book, Clear walks readers through the tips and tricks of identifying a beneficial habit and ways to truly stick to them in order to become a better you. I highly recommend this book to anyone having a hard time finding something to do or struggling to stay motivated during lockdown and beyond.
